Wetland data sheets, filled in the field.

Record vegetation, soil and hydrology on iPhone, iPad or Mac. EcoFormPro runs the three-parameter test as you go, fills the official ENG Form 6116 data sheet exactly as USACE issued it, and builds the full delineation report.

VegetationSoilHydrology

Point overview for sampling point SP-A on a blue sky: Wetland, with vegetation, soil and hydrology met and the next step “Review and sign”.Vegetation screen for SP-A showing 4 of 4 dominants, prevalence index 1.36 and the species list.

How it works in the field

Locate, Plants, Soil, Water, Review. Then the paperwork is done.

Each sampling point follows the order you work in, with one next step always in view and every frequent control sized for gloves.

  1. Step 1: Locate

Take a GPS fix where you will dig the pit. Defaults such as investigators and datum fill in for each new point.

New sampling point SP-1 reading “Location is next”, with a Locate the point card and a Start button.
  2. Step 2: Plants

Find species by name, common name or USDA code and set cover with presets, a dial or by typing. The 50/20 dominance test and prevalence index update as you go.

Vegetation screen for SP-A: Hydrophytic, 4 of 4 dominants FAC or wetter, prevalence index 1.36, a strata bar and species with cover steppers.
  3. Step 3: Soil

Describe each layer with a Munsell picker that matches the book, or type “10YR 2.5/1”. Pick the hydric soil indicator; the profile is drawn to scale.

Soil screen for SP-A: a to-scale profile drawing with two layers, met by indicator A13.
  4. Step 4: Water

Record surface water, water table and saturation depths and tick primary and secondary indicators. The FAC-neutral test (D5) is computed from your plants.

Hydrology screen for SP-A: Present, 3 primary and 1 secondary indicator, with surface water 2 inches and tiles for A1, A2 and A3 selected.
  5. Step 5: Review

The verdict waits for all three parameters, shows the evidence behind each line, and tells you when the data sheet is ready to export.

Summary of Findings card: Wetland, with hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soil and wetland hydrology all YES.

FAQ

Questions

When can I use it?

EcoFormPro is in testing now. A beta through Apple’s TestFlight opens to people on the waitlist first, starting with the Alaska Region.

Which regions does the beta cover?

The Alaska Region data sheet (ENG Form 6116, SEP 2024, Version 2.0), the Alaska Regional Supplement indicators and the Alaska wetland plant list. Pick your region when you join the waitlist so we know where testers are.

Does it change the data sheet?

No. The app writes your entries into the official form and leaves the form itself exactly as USACE issued it. In dark mode the preview still shows a white sheet of paper.

Does the app make the wetland determination for me?

It runs the three-parameter test from your data and shows how it got there. The call is yours: you can overrule the verdict with a reason, and you remain responsible for the determination you submit.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes. Data entry, the determination, the data sheet and the report all work offline. Download map tiles for the project area while you still have a connection; soil map unit and NWI lookups need a connection when you use them.

Where is my data stored? Do I need an account?

Projects live in a database on your device. There is no account and no analytics or tracking. You decide when to export, share or back up. Details are in the privacy policy.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad (including foldable and dual-screen layouts) and Mac, on the 26 releases of iOS, iPadOS and macOS.

How much will it cost?

Pricing has not been announced. Any subscription will be sold and processed through Apple. The beta is free.
